A Disease Management Company
A leading provider of comprehensive health enhancement
programs to health plans and employers. Through strategic partnerships
with research organizations and industry associations, CorSolutions
provides care management programs that span more than 50 chronic
conditions including, but not limited to, depression, rare diseases
and weight management.
The Need: Architecture Assessment
The company was looking to make its services available through various
web service interfaces, which involved migrating the enterprise
applications (both development environment and runtime infrastructure)
to latest version of WebSphere Application Server. Prior to doing
this, however, the company wanted to be sure that investing time
and capital in this direction was the best possible solution. In
order to validate their direction, the company looked to Synegen
to complete a full assessment of their current environment and future
goals.
The Synegen Approach:
Architects from Synegen’s Technical Services practice worked with
the company to complete a thorough analysis which included the following
tasks:
- Provide guidance and educate client sponsors about the WebSphere
technologies including Java and WSAD development environment
enhancements and dependencies.
- Outline and thoroughly describe the migration process.
- Evaluate and educate the client in reference to the available
development tools and resources.
- Review and make recommendations regarding the design of
the Enterprise Architecture.
- Review and make recommendations regarding the application
portfolio.
- Review and make recommendations regarding the runtime architecture.
- Review and quantify code artifacts.
- Review and qualify conformance to J2EE specification.
- Identify risk factors associated with the migration to WebSphere
- Conduct a skills assessment of current user skill sets to
determine the training/education requirements.
The Deliverables:
The following deliverables were associated with completion of this
engagement:
- Risk Assessment documentation for the migration to WebSphere
Application Server.
- Code Analysis documenting required code changes to migrate
applications to WebSphere Application Server.
- Code recommendations to improve the overall quality of the
application.
- A Migration Plan for migrating the development environment.
- A Migration Plan for migrating the runtime environment.
