To that end, our consultants are our most valuable asset!

Within our Technology Services practice, we employ some of the most well-rounded, knowledgeable and experienced technology specialists with backgrounds in IT Department Management, cross-industry IT strategy, analysis and application design.

The consultants who make up our Professional Services practice have vast technology knowledge and backgrounds, as well as a strong understanding of internal business management and IT departmental functions. In many cases, they have considerable knowledge within a specific industry vertical such as finance, insurance, manufacturing, retail and utilities, just to name a few.

Synegen is always looking for superior technical talent for both of these practice areas.

Business Analyst:
An individual filling the role of Business Analyst will provide leadership regarding IT processes and concepts including application alignment/rationalization, project management, process improvement, application configuration management and other necessary leadership tasks. The ideal Business Analyst candidate will have a strong understanding of:
  • Process Design
  • Roadmap Planning
  • Risk Mitigation
  • Enterprise Architecture
  • Project Management
  • Document and Content Management
  • Portal development or technology
  • Application Development
  • Knowledge of various software packages and technologies
Specific responsibilities may include:
  • Assist Synegen clients with determining the best practice approach toward achieving optimum process performance
  • Establish processes and standards for managing processes and technical applications so that IT initiatives and business objectives are aligned
  • Work effectively with IT and business sponsors and project teams to establish and enable the processes required to successfully initiate and deliver new systems
  • Develop IT strategies, plans and actions directly related to the delivery of IT services and operations
  • Establish project management policies and guidelines to ensure delivery of projects with as much consistency, accuracy and efficiency as possible
  • Participate, as appropriate, with software and architecture evaluation, recommendation, selection and implementation that support and enable the goals of the client company
  • Participate, as needed, in pre-sales efforts including sales calls, proposal development and presentation so that new business is obtained
  • Lead and/or support Project Managers to ensure proper management of project scope, schedule, and resources
  • Effectively build working relationships with key client sponsors, executives and team members so that strong client partnership is created to secure future business for Synegnen
  • Mentor and guide junior-level project team members in order to foster the growth and knowledge base of all Synegen team members
  • Continually contribute to the ongoing development of Synegen’s Technology Services practice
Database Specialist:
Synegen is involved in many enterprise technology solutions for clients in the Chicago area. Database Specialists play an important role in the success of each and every one of our client engagements.

Database Architects and Administrators work within a project team, communicating with client representatives and the Synegen team to manage database technologies and the overall vision for the database architecture of client solution. Specific tasks may include:
  • Create and document logical and physical database design using data modeling tools
  • Installing, configuring and tuning database servers
  • Establish policies and procedures pertaining to database management, security, maintenance and utilization
  • Producing and managing the database schema
  • Set and monitor database standards
  • Monitor database efficiency and implement improvements, when needed
  • Evaluate vendor products to meet client needs
  • Evaluate, select and implement required database software
  • Complete development to meet client needs
  • Train users in use of database functionality
  • Effectively communicate with Synegen and client team members any database issues and recommend the best course of action
  • Develop a vision for database systems that works within the goals of the client engagement
  • Ensure that database architecture supports the appropriate systems
  • Advise client and Synegen team members on available database concepts and functional capabilities
Project Management:
The ideal Project Management team member will effectively apply structured project management techniques and methodologies to manage client project initiatives. Working across multiple different industry verticals, the Project Manager should be proactive when responding to client requirements and concerns to successfully manage problem resolution, task completion and project delivery.

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Manage project timelines and budgets
  • Create detailed project work plans
  • Delegate project plan tasks to team members
  • Complete project planning and scope estimation
  • Track project status
  • Develop status reports and submit to the client sponsors as well as the Business Development Managers
  • Schedule and lead client and team status meetings, as needed (bi-weekly, at a minimum)
  • Schedule and lead project milestone presentations with the client
  • Effectively communicate project vision, mission and goals to the team, including Synegen and client members
  • Track and manage all project-related issues
  • Provide leadership to project team members
  • Apply best practice approaches and methodologies, consistent with Syngen’s beliefs
  • Consistently deliver quality projects within budget and timeframes outlined
System Architect:
A person fulfilling the Application/System Architect position will be responsible for working with our clients to develop overall strategy, standardization, analysis, design, and implementation of a key business objective. The Application/System Architect should have an understanding of the following:

  • High-Level knowledge of various software packages
  • Process Design
  • Integration technologies
  • Roadmap planning
  • Data Management
  • Enterprise Architecture
  • Document and Content Management
  • Portal Development
  • Application Development
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Knowledge management
Specific responsibilities may include:
  • Lead large-scale business application design efforts for Synegen clients
  • Effectively interact with managerial- and C-level executives within a client company
  • Obtain and demonstrate knowledge and practical expertise with development tools/technologies applied on client engagements
  • Demonstrate a firm understanding of design methods and architectures
  • Assist the Project Manager in establishing team goals, objectives, and budget
  • Participate in pre-sales efforts with the business development team to procure new business
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of application/enterprise architecture, system integration and development, package evaluation/selection/implementation and best practice iterative development methodologies
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of technology platforms and languages used during Synegen client engagements
  • Effectively define, create and complete project tasks with little guidance
  • Effectively communicate solution vision, mission and goals to business and technical project sponsors
Technical Consultant (Programmer, Programmer/Analyst):
As a key member of the Synegen family, a Technical Consultant is essential to the success and future of Synegen! A Technical Consultant will work within specific client requirements. Working on enterprise development efforts, the Technical Consultant will contribute in several different capacities, depending on his/her experience and capabilities. Areas of contribution may include working within the entire life cycle of an engagement:
  • Analysis
  • Requirement gathering
  • Use case creation
  • Data modeling
  • Development– providing advanced-level development skills and superior technical knowledge to client engagements
  • Testing—successfully test and debug systems for client engagements
  • Documentation (both system documentation and user training documentation)
  • Implementation
  • Knowledge Transfer (including the presentation of User Guides and formal client training sessions)
  • Effectively manage individual time and tasks
